The short version
Sprocket keeps your data on your iPhone. There is no account to create, nothing is sent to us, and there is no analytics or tracking of any kind in the app. If you turn on iCloud Sync, your data goes to your own private iCloud account, which we cannot read.
1. Who we are
Sprocket is developed and published by Lapis Stone LLC. Throughout this policy, "we" and "us" mean Lapis Stone LLC, and "the app" means the Sprocket iOS application.
2. Information the app handles
Everything below is created by you and stored on your device. We do not receive it.
2.1 Information you enter
The app stores what you record about your motorcycles and their upkeep:
- Motorcycle details such as brand, model, year, nickname, colour, odometer reading and engine hours
- Ride records including distance, duration, date and any notes or titles you add
- Service records including the work performed, cost, parts used, dates and notes
- Maintenance schedules and the intervals you set or adjust
- App preferences such as your theme, app icon, units and garage background
2.2 Location
If you use the ride recording feature, the app uses your precise location to measure the distance, duration and route of that ride. This is the only purpose location is used for.
Location is collected only while a ride session is actively recording. It is not collected at any other time.
Recording continues while the app is in the background so a ride is not lost when your screen locks. iOS displays its standard indicator while this happens.
The route is saved on your device as part of that ride record. It is not transmitted to us.
You can stop a recording at any time, and you can delete any ride and its route from within the app.
You may deny or revoke location access in the iOS Settings app. The rest of Sprocket continues to work, and you can still log rides manually.
2.3 Photos and camera
You can attach photos to a motorcycle or to a service record, either by taking a new photo or choosing an existing one. Photos you attach are stored on your device inside the app. The app does not read your photo library beyond the images you specifically choose, and it does not upload photos to us.
2.4 Notifications
If you enable service reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device to tell you when maintenance is coming due. These are generated on your iPhone. No notification server is involved and no information is sent anywhere to produce them.
2.5 Purchases
Sprocket Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the transaction and tells the app whether a valid purchase exists. We never see or store your payment card, billing address or Apple Account credentials. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
3. Where your information is stored
By default, everything the app stores stays in Sprocket's private storage area on your iPhone. Other apps cannot read it, and it is protected by your device passcode and encryption. It is included in your device backups if you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer.
4. iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is an optional feature included with Sprocket Pro. It is switched off unless you turn it on.
When enabled, your garage, rides and service history sync through your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit service.
The data resides in your personal iCloud account. We have no access to it and cannot read, export or recover it.
Apple operates this storage, and their handling of it is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Turning the setting off stops further syncing. Data already in your iCloud account can be managed through the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account.
5. What we do not do
To be explicit about what is absent from this app:
- We do not collect, receive or store your personal information on any server we control.
- There is no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or usage tracking in the app.
- There are no advertising identifiers, no advertising, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- There are no third-party software development kits, libraries or trackers embedded in the app.
- We do not sell or share your information, because we do not have it.
- There is no account, login or registration, and we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
6. Third parties
The app relies on two Apple services and no one else. Apple's In-App Purchase system processes purchases, and Apple's CloudKit provides iCloud Sync when you enable it. Both are operated by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. No other company receives data from this app.
7. Children
Sprocket is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to hold or delete.
8. Your choices
- Location: grant or revoke access at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy and Security, then Location Services.
- Photos and camera: grant or revoke access in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security.
- Notifications: turn service reminders on or off inside Sprocket, or manage them in iOS Settings.
- iCloud Sync: turn it on or off inside Sprocket at any time.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you remove it. You can delete an individual motorcycle, ride, service record or photo from within the app. Deleting the app removes all of the data it stored locally on that device. If you used iCloud Sync, data held in your iCloud account can be removed through the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account. Because we hold no copy of your information, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, and the right not to be treated differently for exercising them.
Sprocket is built so that these rights are satisfied directly by you. We are not a controller or processor of your personal information, because none of it reaches us. Your data lives on your device and, if you choose, in your own iCloud account, and you can view, edit, export or delete it yourself at any time. If you believe we hold information about you and would like to make a request, contact us using the details below and we will respond.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
