The short version

Stonecall keeps your collection and progress on your iPhone or iPad. There is no account to create, the game sends nothing to us, and there is no analytics or tracking of any kind in the game. Apart from what Apple handles for purchases and for your device backups, the one thing the game sends off your device is a small record of your shard balance, kept in your own iCloud account so it follows you to a new device. We have no way to read it.

1. Who we are

Stonecall is developed and published by Lapis Stone LLC. Throughout this policy, "we" and "us" mean Lapis Stone LLC, and "the game" means the Stonecall app for iPhone and iPad.

2. Information the app handles

Everything below is created by you as you play and stored on your device. The record of your shard balance described in section 4 is also kept in your iCloud account. We receive none of it.

2.1 Information the game stores

The game stores what you build and how far you have got:

The Contracts record also keeps a small count of the times your device's clock was found set back by more than two days, so that a day's contracts cannot be taken twice by changing the clock. If the save holding your collection, balances and forge ever fails to load, the game keeps a copy of it aside on your device so it can be recovered rather than lost.

None of this is about you beyond the game you are playing, and none of it reaches us.

2.2 Purchase and installation records

So that every purchase is credited exactly once, the game keeps the transaction number Apple gives each purchase and the number of shards it paid.

So that a copy of the game restored from a backup can tell itself apart from the original, the game also keeps a random number made for each installation, and your device's identifier for our apps (Apple's "identifier for vendor").

The transaction numbers and the installation number are part of the shard record described in section 4. The game never sends the identifier for vendor anywhere. None of these names you, and none of them is used to track you.

2.3 Location

The game does not use location. It never asks for it and it has no reason to.

2.4 Photos and camera

The game does not use the camera and does not read your photo library.

2.5 Motion

The map tilts slightly as you tilt your device. While the map is on screen, the game reads your device's motion sensors for this and uses each reading straight away. Readings are never stored or sent anywhere. Turning on Reduce motion, in the game or in iOS, stops it.

2.6 Notifications

The game does not send notifications and never asks for permission to.

2.7 Purchases

Shards are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and tells the app when a purchase has gone through. We never see or store your payment card, billing address or Apple Account details. The only purchase details the game keeps are the transaction numbers described in 2.2. Apple's handling of the payment is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.

3. Where your information is stored

Stonecall's saves are kept in its private storage area on your iPhone or iPad. Other apps cannot read them. iOS encrypts them, and your passcode protects them if you have set one.

They are included in your device backups if you back up to iCloud or to a computer, except for one small file holding a second copy of the installation number and the identifier for vendor from 2.2. The game asks iOS to leave that file out of backups, so that a copy restored from one can recognise itself.

The shard record described in section 4 is also kept in your iCloud account.

4. Your shard balance in iCloud

Shards are the currency you can buy with real money, so the game keeps your shard balance in your iCloud account, where a new device or a reinstall of the game can find it. Your cards, coins, iron, looks and progress are not synced between devices, though your device backups include them.

This uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage. For each installation of the game it holds:

The game puts nothing else in iCloud. Your saves reach iCloud only inside an iCloud Backup of your device, if you use one.

This happens automatically whenever your device is signed in to iCloud, and the game has no switch of its own for it. If your device is not signed in to iCloud, Apple keeps the record on your device only, and sends it to iCloud if you sign in later. iOS may also let you turn off iCloud for individual apps in Settings; if Stonecall is listed there, turning it off keeps the record on this device. If you sign in to a different Apple Account on the same device, the game writes its record to that account as well.

The record lives in your own iCloud account. We have no server that can read it: only the game, on your own devices, reads and updates it. Apple operates this storage, and its handling is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

5. What we do not do

To be explicit about what is absent from this app:

6. Third parties

The game relies on two Apple services and no one else. Apple's In-App Purchase system processes purchases, and Apple's iCloud key-value storage keeps your shard record. Both are operated by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. No other company receives data from this app.

Separately, if you have chosen in iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics about the game. That is Apple's system, not something built into Stonecall, and you can turn it off at any time (see section 8).

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you, and we delete it if you ask.

7. Children

Stonecall is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the game collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to hold or delete.

8. Your choices

9. Keeping and deleting your data

Your saves stay on your device until you remove them. Deleting the game removes the saves it keeps on that device. Copies in earlier iCloud or computer backups of the device remain until those backups are deleted.

If you are signed in to iCloud, the shard record is kept in your iCloud account rather than in the game's own storage, so it is not removed when you delete the game. That is what brings your balance back if you reinstall or move to a new device. It holds only the numbers listed in section 4. The game does not currently offer a way to erase it. If you would like it erased, contact us.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, and the right not to be treated differently for exercising them.

Stonecall is built so that none of your information reaches us from the game. Your saves live on your device, and your shard record lives in your own iCloud account. If you believe we hold information about you, for example because you have emailed us, and would like to make a request, contact us using the details below and we will respond.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the game's release notes. The version posted here is the one in effect.

12. This website

The Stonecall pages on this website load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to fetch them, and Google receives your IP address and the address of the page as part of that request. The company that hosts this website also receives your IP address and browser details when you load the pages, in its ordinary server logs. The pages set no cookies and contain no analytics. Google's handling of these requests is covered by Google's privacy policy.
